There are benefits to both batch production and mass continuous production. At Maeco, we can help you decide which is the most cost effective. There is a misconception that batch production is smaller quantity production. That is not always true. The difference between batch production and mass production is more about the process and each process has its pros and cons. We will go into each type of production.
BATCH PRODUCTION for INDUSTRIAL and AGRICULTURAL COMPONENTS
Batch production means that all pieces are assembled at each stage before they move on to the next stage. Sometimes this is the best solution for a component that requires a lot of assembly. This solution allows you better track inventory of assembly pieces and allows you to do quality assurance of all your components before they go onto the next stage. The downside is time and cost. Because each industrial component batch must be fully completed before it goes to the next stage, you are spending a lot of time before you complete a final product.
- Ideal for a component that requires mass assembly
- Great for prototyping before mass production
MASS PRODUCTION for INDUSTRIAL and AGRICULTURAL COMPONENTS
The term mass production can be used for flow production, one-piece flow, or continuous production. We will use the term mass production to keep it simple. Although batch production does not always mean small quantities, mass production almost always means large quantities. When you have a component that is standardized and want to be able to produce inventory on demand, mass production is the way to go. In the long term, you save money, but there is an initial investment up front that are associated with costs for molds, machinery, and equipment.
- Ideal for high demand of inventory and controlling inventory
- Great for components with limited assembly
HYBRID PRODUCTION for INDUSTRIAL and AGRICULTURAL COMPONENTS
Most of Maeco’s clients need custom manufactured parts, this means that they also need customized manufacturing processes. With our track record, we can help you determine the most cost-effective strategy for production. Whether we recommend batch production, mass production or a hybrid solution, you can be assured we will the solution best suited to your specific needs.
